Fox & Friends co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck is known for making comments with very little intelligence and she continued her cycle with her attempt to justify Sandra Bland‘s arrest.

“What if, I mean, there are times, I’m sure, someone has, in the history of this land, used a cigarette against a police officer,” Hasselbeck said during an interview with former New York Police Department officer John Rafferty. “Maybe chucked it at him — pushed it at him?”

Hasselbeck’s comment comes after she and Rafferty analyzed the arrest from start to end. Rafferty even makes a point to admit Officer Encinia crossed the line and began to take the situation personal when he pulled Bland out of her vehicle.

It was only after Hasselbeck tried to deliberately make a point to justify Encinia’s aggressive arrest that Rafferty agreed he could’ve felt threatened or put in harms way.

In defense of Sandra Bland, Salon writer Scott Eric Kaufman makes a point that anything as simple as office supplies could be considered dangerous. He shuts down Hasselbeck’s idiotic statement by saying:

“Just because I could toss a cup of lukewarm green tea at any police officer who walks into my office doesn’t mean that, should a police officer actually enter my office, he or she should feel immediately threatened by my Bigelow,” Kaufman wrote.
